Peace Light Reaches Plymouth - 02-01-2012

The Peace Light arrived in Plymouth on Tuesday 13th December after being collected at Exeter Services that morning, after travelling from Dover.

On the late afternoon of 13th December members of the Plymouth Active Support Unit and a member of the Guide Trefoil Guild took the light to the R.C. Cathedral in Plymouth where it was received by the R.C. Bishop of Plymouth. Following the Peace Light 2011 prayer the flame lit a candle in the Cathedral which is kept alight all year.

On Friday 16th December members from the Plymouth ASU , Scouts from the 1st Keyham, 29th and 35th Plymouth, took the light to the Lord Mayor's Annual Candlelit Carol Service at our Minster Church, St. Andrew's, where once again the flame lit the candles, Scouts also helped with the offertory. The Peace Light has taken part in this service for a number of years.

On Christmas Eve the light, as in the past few years, was received at the Family Carol Service at St. Mary's Church, Tamerton Foliot, Plymouth, where this year Lily Cornish, a Cub Scout from the 29th Plymouth, passed the flame over to the Vicar. Following this she lit the Advent candles. The Peace Light travelled on to Cornwall from Plymouth on the morning of 13th December.
