Module Dates

This is the first version of the programme of dates on which Module learning will be delivered in Course / Small Group Format between January and December 2008.

Module 1 – Essential Information

This Module will be delivered locally under arrangements made by Local Training Managers.   Alternative methods of learning are available (CD-ROM, Video, DVD) and may be obtained from Local Training Managers.

Module 3 – Tools for the Job (Section Leaders)

This Module will be delivered locally under arrangements made by Local Training Managers. A CD-ROM learning package is also available, and may be obtained from Local Training Managers.

Module 4 – Tools for the Job (Managers)

See information sheet below for details of arrangements for all Manager / Supporter Modules.

Module 5 – Fundamental Values of Scouting

Module 6 – Changes in Scouting

This Module is only available as a Video or DVD programme and should be obtained from Local Training Managers.

Module 7 – Valuing Diversity

A DVD or Video programme is also available, and may be obtained from Local Training Managers

Module 8 – Skills of Leadership

Module 9 – Working with Adults

Module 10 – First Aid

To complete this Module you need to complete a recognised First Aid or Emergency Aid course.  Please refer to Local Training Managers for details of acceptable qualifications and dates of Scout organised courses in your area.

Module 11 – Administration – Section Leaders

Module 13 – Growing the Movement – Section Leaders

A workbook for this module is also available, and may be obtained from Local Training Managers.

Module 14 – Young People Today

Module 15 – Challenging Behaviour

Module 16 – Nights Away

This Module consists of an introductory evening followed by a residential weekend.  Attendance at both parts is required.

Fees

As the whole scheme is fully funded through the County Membership Subscription, there is no fee for any of the advertised modules for Devon Scouters. Applicants from out of county will be welcome, and fees will be quoted on request.

How to Apply

Please complete an application form (download Here) and submit to your Local Training manager, the County Training Manager or email to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it . Applications should be received no later than two weeks before the date advertised; applications received later may be returned. Joining instructions, including venue details and times will be circulated before the date of the module. Specific requirements (packed lunch, outdoor clothing etc) will be notified at that stage. Midweek modules will usually start at 7.30 p.m. and last for approx 2 hours. Times of modules run at weekends will vary according to the timetable of each particular day. Before application, you should have compiled a Personal Learning Plan with your Training Adviser.
