Scouts do 1 thing on Founder's Day
Today Scouting celebrates the birth of our founder, Robert Baden-Powell. And now is the perfect time to reflect on the scout promise, particularly when it comes to 'helping other people.'

Scouting supporters reconnect
Over 150 people gathered for our first ever event to bring together Scouting supporters.

Beaver Scouts

The Scout Association provides adventurous activities and personal development opportunities for young people aged 6-25, starting with Beaver Scouts.

Beaver Scouts belong to the first and youngest Section in the Scouting family. Beaver Scouts are young people usually aged between six and eight years old.

Boys and girls can join Beaver Scouts in the three months leading up to their sixth birthday.

Scouting promotes personal development, this means promoting the physical, intellectual, social and spiritual well-being of the individual, helping them achieve their full potential.

In Scouting, we believe that young people develop most when they are 'learning by doing,' when they are given responsibility, work in teams, take acceptable risks and think for themselves.

Easily recognised in their turquoise sweatshirts, Beaver Scouts enjoy activities based around making things, outdoor activities, singing, playing games, going out on visits, investigating nature, listening to stories, learning how to be safe, helping others and most importantly, making new friends and having fun.

Another important part of the Beaver Scout experience is to take part in 'sleepovers' or residential nights away. This is often a young person's first time away from home and is tremendous fun. It also provides them with an insight to the much loved camping aspect of Scouting enjoyed by youngsters aged eight to eighty eight..!

Prepare for Adventure

There is a Beaver Colony near you, so is your child up for the challenge?

For more information email    beavers@devonscouts.org.uk

and we can put you in touch with your local Beaver Colony

Could you help?

Scouting is a voluntary organisation and we always have more youngsters wanting to enjoy Scouts than we have adults to help them.

Your skills and talents in whatever hobbies / interests you have or work you do are invaluable and would be much appreciated by the young people in Scouting.

So, are you up for the challenge? Can you offer your child's colony a little time to share your skills? It is very rewarding to see young children trying out new things and I'm sure you'll have fun too!
