Scouts do 1 thing on Founder's Day
Today Scouting celebrates the birth of our founder, Robert Baden-Powell. And now is the perfect time to reflect on the scout promise, particularly when it comes to 'helping other people.'

Join the Duke of Edinburgh's award with Devon Scouts

What is The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award?
A programme of activities for those aged 14 – 25, designed to offer a personal challenge

How does it work?
Through a four section programme. The sections are Volunteering, Skills, Expedition and Physical.  At Gold level a residential project with new companions has also to be undertaken.

How does this affect the Scout Association?
The Scout Association have a licence to run the Award.

Why join through Scouts?
The Award is undertaken as part of The Scout Association Training Programme, and follows the Scout Activity Rules etc.

Who can do the Awards through Scouts?
All members of the Scout Association aged between 14 and 25, this includes Scouts, Explorer Scouts, Scout Network Leaders and SASU members.

Why should I join the D.of E. Award? I am a Scout and we have our own Awards!
The Award is an external qualification, which is highly respected, and recognised by most employers.

What can count towards the Duke of Edinburgh's Award?
Volunteering within The Scout Association, and any good activity programme should also count towards the Award.

What is the difference in a Scout Duke of Edinburgh’s Award?
Nothing!

How do you join The Award?
Complete an enrolment form, and pay for a Welcome Pack and e-DofE participation place via the County Award Adviser. (Details below)
