Media Development Manager

We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic person to perform the role of Media Development manager for Devon Scouts.

Title: Media Development Manager (MDM)
Outline: To improve the public image of Scouting
Responsible to: Deputy County Commissioner Media & Development
Main Contacts: Members of the Movement, District Media Development Managers (DMDM), HQ media and PR team, the media (press, broadcast, web) and members of the public
Appointment Requirements: Module 1, Essential Information must be completed

What does a Media Development Manager do?

The main role of an MDM is to seek out and identify local good news stories happening in Scouting in Devon and to promote these to local and regional media outlets in an ‘On Brand’ format.

In simple terms the MDM looks at what is going on in Scouting and decides where to shine the media spotlight so that Scouting’s key elements, Adventure, Challenge, Fun and Friendship are highlighted.

Our new MDM would receive guidance and training from the National Media Team at Gilwell and lead Devon’s ‘Media Team’. This team is made up of explorers and leaders who attend and report on events. Working closely with the County Team the MDM would guide the county and Districts in both internal and external communications.

If you would like to know more or be considered for the role please contact Steve Hagger media@devonscouts.org.uk
