Ten Tors
Exciting News!
Devon County Network will be entering a team for Ten Tors 2012
Ten Tors
A few facts:
- Ten Tors is a walking challenge held on Dartmoor over two days.
- It consists of teams of six walking 35, 45 or 55 miles with an overnight camp.
- It is run by the Army and starts at Okehampton barracks.
- It is not a race.
- It will require commitment over a period of four months to complete enough training to take part.
We applied for one 55mile team and were successful.
Age range:
18 or 19 on 31st August 2012, also a Member of Devon Network.
This year Team selection was carried out earlier than usual, as a result training can now start before the New Year. This means we will start training on 27th November with regular practices up until Ten Tors on 11th to 13th May, you will need to attend these practices to gain the competence and level of fitness to take part.
No places in the team can be guaranteed and will need to be earned, commitmen to training needing to be shown. There will be a cost for this event, we will try to keep it as low as possible but expect it to be about £100. This is for training and the event. You will need to supply your own food for training and event. We will supply dinner on the Friday of Ten Tors and breakfast before you start.
Please note that we will not be providing transport so you will need to arrange this for yourselves sharing with other team members.
