You’re passionate about the Scout section and in helping our leaders deliver an exciting, fun, adventurous and balanced programme to get the best out of our young people and create the leaders for tomorrow.
You’ve got great time management skills which mean you can manage your diary to fit in a trip to a local group, plan your Assistant District Commissioner meetings, catch up with e-mails, call the County Commissioner to let her know the success of the latest event, proof read a good news story for a local paper – all around work and family life.
Working with our ADC Scouts you’ll encourage our leaders to provide a balanced programme – this will mean visiting ADCs and scout leaders and arranging meetings to share best practice. You’ll need to produce a budget for the section and liaise with others to deliver activities within it.
You’ll also be working with the County Commissioner, District Commissioners and other Commissioners within the County to look at how we promote and encourage the transition from Cubs to Scouts and Scouts to Explorers so that we can see our numbers grow. Working with the County Training Manager and training team, we’re going to look to you to be our “Scout Section Expert!”
You’ll be liaising with the Media Development Manager to ensure your pages on the website are up to date and to dig out those great news stories that promote the Scout section to the local community and encourage even more people to join the adventure in Devon.
You’re a forward thinking people person – confident in suggesting new ways of working and adaptable to change. Your positive outlook means you’re able to work with a variety of people across groups, Districts, County and Head Quarters – able to use your judgement to know when an occasion calls for confidentiality, diplomacy and tact.
