Devon Archery Programme Support Team
The purpose of the team is:
· Provide opportunities for youth members to experience Archery within a safe and controlled environment
· Provide Continuous Professional Development opportunities for existing National Governing Body award holders and Scout Permit holders to learn or refresh skills.
We do this by running Archery Scouting activities with Scout permit holders. We can attend existing Scout Archery Ranges and delivery have-a-go introductory sessions where attendees get the chance to experience Archery for the first time, learn how to shoot safely and score a few rounds or arrows. These sessions typically accommodate 6 Archers shooting at the same time for approximately 30 minutes. Where an existing range isn’t available, we can advise Leaders where a range could be located for the duration of the activity, attend the activity, set up the range and deliver the session.
For existing Scout Archery Permit holders, we can run education sessions to refresh existing skills, or teach new skills covering topics such as Equipment purchasing, equipment maintenance, Coaching Skills, and Risk Assessment collaboration. These sessions could count towards your Scout Permit Renewal activity log.
