This page sets out the top up requirements / exemptions for people holding common first aid certificates. The following have been mapped as the most likely to be presented.

All qualifications MUST have OFQUAL registration.
Any other qualifications would need to be submitted to the Lead Volunteer (First Response) with a full Qualification Specification that lists all topics along with the range of conditions.
This one-day course fails to meet the Scouts First Response syllabus and requires a range of topics to be completed to make up the difference. No modules can be awarded by holding this qualification alone.

EITHER: Take the full Module 10 First Response Course
OR: Complete the self-paced catch-up learning here First Response Conversion – 1 day Emergency First Aid Work (10A only); and complete a Module 10B First Aid Practical Evaluation session

The FAW is a 3-day course that is comprehensive however it doesn’t cover all of the First Response Syllabus with the registered course missing the paediatric elements, types of shock, Sepsis and Meningitis. No modules can be awarded by holding the qualification alone.

EITHER: Take the full Module 10 First Response Course
OR: Complete the self-paced catch-up learning here First Response Conversion – 2 or 3 day First Aid Work (10A); and you may need to complete a Module 10B First Aid Practical Evaluation session. If the syllabus for your course clearly states both Paediatric and Adult CPR are covered and assessed, then you will not need to do a 10B, but you will need to produce the course syllabus to prove this. Otherwise you will need to complete a Module 10B First Aid Practical Evaluation session.

This is a one-day course which doesn’t meet the syllabus requirements with a significant element missing with focus around the more adult elements. No modules can be awarded by holding this qualification alone.
The holder of the EPFA must take the full Module 10 First Response Course, which can be booked here: Learning Calendar & Booking
This 2-day course covers several elements of the First Response Syllabus but holding this award alone will not allow any modules to be awarded.

This is a complicated area with wide variations
There are a number of qualifications across the services but the holder of any of the following should be awarded all modules;
Nursing doesn’t cover front line first aid. A discussion is required with a county First aid trainer in order to identify the elements of the syllabus that need to be covered, based on the nursing role held and work undertaken. This is especially relevant where an Advanced Nurse Practitioner role is held. Evidence of annual NHS Adult and Paediatric Basic Life Support (BLS) qualification should be provided for 10B to show recent and up to date CPR.
As Doctors specialise, not all areas are likely to be current and UpToDate. There is a huge difference between and A&E doctor and a Pathologist. It is likely that a professional discussion will determine what is appropriate for the individual.
A medical student can’t be awarded any modules as they could be at any stage across multiple levels of training. If they have an associate award such as BLS some elements could be covered off.
