First Response Training

First Response Training

The first aid training – also known as First Response course – covers the skills and knowledge necessary to enable volunteers to manage an incident and provide basic first aid. Our First Response programme has been developed in collaboration with Girlguiding, with a common syllabus, resources and acceptance between the two organisations.

The First Response Certificate is designed specifically for adults in The Scouts and Girlguiding, based on the situations and issues that occur within those roles. It is not, therefore, externally recognised.

Do you need to update, or have you recently completed a first aid course for work, school or another charity? If you have attended another course you may not need to attend another but simply complete a top up.

Who should complete this training

You can find out if you’re required to complete the first aid training by checking Chapter 16: Roles Tables in POR.

If this training is required for your role, you are asked complete it in within your first year of volunteering, and to renew it every three years.
